Did a lot of the initial picks turn it down? This definitely isnt the best team that NC could field. It also needs to change from just a senior show case to all ages, many of our best guys were not seniors this season.

This is only open to Seniors. We could not participate in this dual if we allowed underclassmen.
These are the young men who accepted the invitation to wrestle.
This isn't a state superlative team. There were young men who had to decline for one reason or another.
This is our team going forward, let's get behind them.

I understand that this NC SC match is held in conjunction with the SC all star event that is held every year in Myrtle Beach. I wish that the NC vs SC match could be held at a different time so that it could flip flop locations: one year in SC, the next year in NC. Not all of us can make it to Myrtle Beach to see this event. JMO

So it was picked off of invitation? Or was it a selection process where the coaches picked from submitted athletes?
-
All head coaches were sent a nominating google form to nominate seniors. Wrestlers were selected from this list.

Need to find a spot for Donald Cates on the team. I think he'd be a tremendous boost to the team.

Didn’t go too well for NC. Does anyone have the individual match scores?
-
Don’t know who won for NC, but the team score was SC 49 NC 15.

We only won 120,126,132,138, and 182. And Those were all won by decision while we gave up pins at many of the other weights. Granted those wins were over probably the best guys in SC. 132 and 138 were all between D1 recruits.

Fair play to all the young men who went south to compete. With that said, need to take more of our elite wrestlers if this continues to be a traditional event. Dallas Wilson, Minacapelli, Early, Maroney. I think all those young men were/are seniors.

Like Coach Belk said before, a lot of these kids you are mentioning declined invites to complete. For instance, 3 out of the 4 names you mentioned were invited and declined, and the other one wasn’t even nominated. That has to be done by their head coach. The boys that competed did their best against a tough group. The kid the SC team had at 220 beat both the 3A and 4A state Champs from our state. The NC team was also winning matches at 106, 113, and Hwt and the tides turned quickly as they can do in wrestling and they ended up losing. So, let’s not be critical. NC won last year and SC won this year. Hopefully, next year we can bring it back home, but coaches are going to have to push their top kids to compete.
