« Last post by Coach Atwood on February 11, 2024, 09:02:06 PM »
Don’t get shortchanged. Get the money from the schools while representing in the state tournament. Here’s the information straight from the NCHSAA Handbook:

Page 79 is your Reference for proof:

$8 Thursday
$5 $6 $8 Friday
$5 $6 $8 Saturday
$46 total per participant /coach

GET THAT MEAL MONEY!!!

It’s in the basketball section but applies to all sports.

High School Wrestling / Regional and state tournament time
« Last post by Dickerson on February 08, 2024, 11:59:05 AM »
Coaches, parents, and wrestlers, it's that time of year again.  I forgot to leave these reminders last year, but keep them in mind:

1. Check your fingernails and any abrasive stubble before you get to your weigh-ins.  If you decide you need to shave during weigh-in, it'll be with cold water and a cheap razor.

2. If ANYTHING could be interpreted as a "suspicious lesion" on your skin, bring the wrestling skin form from NCHSAA completed by your doctor indicating that it is either not a communicable condition, has been under treatment for 48-72 hours depending on condition, or is something that is no longer contagious.  It doesn't matter if "no one has ever said anything about it."  Those other people have not been doing their jobs if they haven't questioned it.  Or either you are...bending the truth.

3. If you/your wrestler have an injury after regional, take time to rest and rehab that injury with your athletic trainer before the state tournament.  We will do all we can for you in the training room, but we cannot make that injury just disappear.

4. If you/your wrestler have a hinged brace, make sure to check rules on how it needs to be covered or padded.  If it requires extra padding, please bring it with you and we'll be glad to help you keep it covered.

5. Please don't show up sick, coughing and sneezing illness everywhere.  I know it's a big deal for you, but you won't wrestle well sick and other people don't want to get sick from you.

6. If you have braces, remember your mouth guard.  We don't have any.

7. You cannot have things like Tiger Balm, Flexall, and Icy Hot on your body during a match.

8. Bathe and bring deodorant.

9. If your athletic trainer or physical therapist has recommended biomechanical taping (kinesio-tape, Rock Tape, etc.) do not have it on you at the weigh-in skin check.  We can help you with it after weigh-in and mark you so that if it stays on through the first day, you won't need to take it off for the second.

10. Leave bad attitudes out of the training room.

NC Wrestling Coaches Association
Girls State Dual Championship

Champions: Hoke County
Runners-Up: Swain County
3rd Place: Jack Britt
4th Place: West Rowan

Some great wrestling tonight!

If NCHSAA doesn’t offer a girls state dual event next season we will schedule this the last weekend prior to submitting regional entries!

OR .... teams who do not wish to be in the post season let the NCHSAA that you are chosing to opt out... and allow another wild card to be entered.
79
This is the very reason having a team ranked 98th in the 3A division with a record of 3-27 should not be allowed into the dual team tournament regardless of where they finished in their split conference.  West Mecklenburg qualified because they beat a West Charlotte team with a dual meet record of 1-14.

I think the NCHSAA could do better if they wanted to   Post season events should be about the best NC has to offer   Not the worst.

Come watch the girls go for it tomorrow night!!
