So all four NC Classes finished top ten in team score.  Frosh, Jr., and Sr. were all 9th while the Sophomores were 5th, behind only OH, NY, PA, and NJ, which in my opinion is quite impressive.  Great job Soph class, led by the 5 AA's.

Does anyone know what the highest a NC class has finished at this tournament?

Many of the kids from that Sophomore class are previous All-Americans at other National Tournaments and this one as well. I think that group of wrestlers is unique in that they go into big tournaments believing they will win.   Not saying there aren't others that do, but when you win on the National level that becomes the benchmark.  At least as an observer I am looking for their names and expect that they will put NC out in front at the big ones.  Good news is they are only Sophomores. Great Showing.

All-Americans Treanor 4x, Foor 2x, Joplin 1x, Rankin 1x and Cypher 2X.  May have missed I or 2.  These guys are always in the hunt!!

Spencer Leonardt multiple time all-American - shout out to him

VA beach is a very tough tournament still, but it has become watered down. Once they allowed anyone to enter it has caused less nationally ranked kids to enter the tournament.  Still it is amazing competition and some very skilled kids there but at the end of the day when you have maybe one or two of the top kids in each weight class if that, it begins to hold less merit.

It all started in Pittsburgh in 1990 w/ only Seniors and I think State Champs only.

Caleb is a hell of a wrestler! Glad to hear that! The worst thing i've ever heard about Caleb Smith is that you have to force him to leave the wrestling room because he doesn't want to quit training.

A lot of options out there these days for tournaments. Some are getting a little watered down but still a great accomplishment navigating those big brackets.
