If a non faculty member high school coach goes through the required approval process to coach for a particular high school in a school system,  is him or her automatically approved for coaching at other high schools within the same school system or outside of the school system?

If the background check was conducted within one year from the time of moving from one school to another within the same school district then the background check is still valid, but anytime someone moves from one school district to another they have to endure another background check that requires clearance even if it's within the same academic year as the prior background check.  Hope this helps.

Here is a follow up question.  How do club coaches get away from going through the process of getting approved from one school system to another to be a non faculty coach?  This was prevelant at the Holy Angeles Tournament last week when you saw many club coaches sitting in the coach's chairs on the corner of the mat.  How does the NCHSAA police these issue?

Just because their a club coach doesn't mean they haven't done all the necessary requirements and got employed through school as either paid position or non paid.  We are beginning to see more and more club coaches that are also getting hired at high schools.

If there are club coaches who are not otherwise approved by a school system sitting in the corner coaching kids that would be a major violation that the NCHSAA would have no choice but to act on.  At the state tournament this season, I intend to ask Kendall Nelson to help my coaching staff during the first round of the 3A state tournament in the event I need him since we only have two coaches.  That would be legal since he is an approved coach in the Guilford County Schools and he has been approved by the NCHSAA since he's completed their required courses and CPR status for the current season.  If Kendall were not approved by GCS/NCHSAA then legally he could not be in their corner nor should he even be on the floor of the arena.  If Kendall wanted to coach a kid in Forsyth County who may be in his club the legalities change because it's a different school system.  He'd be OK with the NCHSAA requirements, but he'd have to be approved by WSFCS to be in the corner of one of their kids.
