If you want to lock in a spot, reply to me and I will add you to the list. We are taking the first 15 teams that confirm that they want in. I have attached a flyer for the tournament. Thanks for your time!

High School Wrestling / Elizabeth City State University - Wrestling - Updates - Call for Support
« Last post by tgoodale80 on February 24, 2026, 04:47:42 PM »My name is Tim Goodale, I am a professor at ECSU, and a former wrestler at ODU and a wrestling coach over the past 20+ years from K to College. You may or may not of heard, but we have been able secure approval to start a club wrestling team on campus here at ECSU.
The immediate goal this spring is to charter a USA wrestling club (done), and grow interest in long term participation. The students wanted an opportunity to compete, so we are also planning a tournament to kickstart fundraising, tentatively April 25th on campus, we hope to get some other open level wrestlers from ECU and Apprentice along with some K-12 athletes to support the program for the next year and beyond.
The longer term goals is to compete at the NCWA level for men and women and show viability of the program as far as participation, student retention and success, to make the pitch to level up to D2 by 2030.
As you know, it takes a village to get anything rolling, I would love to see how far we could grow this but we are going to need support and volunteers from the start. If this is something you are interested in, especially now at the ground level I would love to speak with your. The students are eager, we have mixed abilities, but the desire is there. I see a lot of promise. In the short term, the greatest needs would be some availability to run some practices on campus (Thursday evening or Saturday morning) being a USA club, if you all wanted to bring some HS kids that have a card, that would be fine so maybe that "double dipping" is a possibility in terms of off season coaching efforts. Also, help with pushing the tournament and registration when it opens. I know I can't do it alone, so if you or if you know of someone that might be interested please send this message along.
Thanks again for your time, my cell is 757-333-2881 for text or call or email me at tagoodale@ecsu.edu. -Tim
